Top tips to get you feeling tip top
Taking the simple steps below can help you treat your cold and flu symptoms and speed your recovery:
- Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. Water is best but orange juice and other liquids high in vitamin C may also be helpful.
- Steam inhalation can ease nasal congestion by loosening mucus. Sit with a towel over your head over a bowl of hot water. Close your eyes and breathe in deeply.
- Medicines containing paracetamol* or ibuprofen-based products can help relieve pain and lower fever.
- Decongestants such as phenylephrine work by reducing the swelling in the passageways of your nose and help to ease breathing when congested.
- Cough medicines help to relieve the irritation that causes coughing. There are different types of cough medicine available which can either help suppress a cough, when it is dry or tickly, or help relieve a cough when there is mucus and it is chesty. Speak to a doctor or pharmacist.
- Use an All in One product if you’re suffering with a chesty cough as well as other symptoms such as congestion, aches and pains.
- Try to rest and avoid strenuous activity.
*Only take one paracetamol containing product at a time.
